Prize: The opportunity to progress through GR1 and, subject to these Terms and Conditions and all relevant motorsport requirements, compete in one real-world GAZ Shocks 116 Trophy race weekend during the 2027 season.
IMPORTANT: GR1 is designed to identify genuine, previously undiscovered driving talent. The competition is free to enter and is intended to be accessible and grassroots in spirit, but the final prize is a genuine motorsport opportunity. The eventual winner must be able and willing to attend UK-based tuition, testing, licensing and the race weekend, and must satisfy all requirements imposed by the relevant motorsport governing body, club, championship and event organisers.
- About GR1
1.1. GR1 – GrassRoots 1 (“GR1”, “the Competition”) is a free-to-enter competition organised by Simfinity Systems Ltd (“Simfinity”, “the Organiser”).
1.2. GR1 has been created to identify driving ability and potential.
1.3. GR1 consists of three stages:
• Round 1 – Sim Racing Time Trial: Entrants compete to set the fastest valid lap. The ten fastest eligible drivers progress.
• Round 2 – Sim Racing Race: The ten qualifying drivers compete in an online race. Three drivers progress to the final.
• Final Round – Real-World Driver Assessment: The three finalists participate in a real-world track-based driving assessment under professional instruction. Driver performance and potential are assessed, and one overall winner is selected.
1.4. The exact dates, times, race format, circuit(s), testing arrangements and other operational details may be published or amended by Simfinity as the Competition develops.
1.5. The current intended closing date for Round 2 is 15 November 2026. Any date described as “TBC”, “planned”, “provisional” or similar is not guaranteed until formally announced by Simfinity. - Eligibility
2.1. GR1 is open worldwide.
2.2. Entrants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of entry.
2.3. To be eligible to receive and participate in the real-world prize, the eventual winner must be at least 16 years old by 1 January 2027 and must continue to satisfy all relevant requirements when the prize is taken.
2.4. Entrants do not need a road driving licence or motorsport competition licence to enter GR1.
2.5. Entrants do not need previous real-world motorsport experience.
2.6. Entrants must nevertheless possess sufficient physical and mental ability to participate safely in the relevant activities, subject to reasonable adjustments where practicable.
2.7. Participation in GR1 does not guarantee progression to any subsequent round.
2.8. Simfinity may require reasonable evidence of age or identity where necessary to verify eligibility.
2.9. Where the winner is unable to satisfy the eligibility requirements for the real-world prize, the prize may pass to the next highest-placed eligible driver. This process may continue down the finishing order until an eligible winner is identified. - Entry
3.1. Entry to GR1 is free. No purchase is necessary.
3.2. Entrants may participate during the published Competition period and may rejoin the server/session as permitted by the Competition format.
3.3. Unless otherwise announced, there is no limit to the number of valid attempts an eligible entrant may make during Round 1.
3.4. Simfinity may impose reasonable technical or operational limits where necessary to maintain the integrity, stability or fairness of the Competition.
3.5. Entry does not create any entitlement to a prize, progression, ranking position or participation in any subsequent round.
3.6. By participating, entrants agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions and with reasonable instructions issued by Simfinity in relation to the Competition. - One Person, One Competition Position
4.1. Each individual may participate only as themselves.
4.2. Multiple accounts, duplicate identities, account sharing, impersonation or other attempts to represent one person as multiple competitors are prohibited.
4.3. A person may only occupy one qualifying position within the Competition.
4.4. If Simfinity determines that multiple accounts or identities have been operated by the same individual, Simfinity may remove the duplicate entries and/or disqualify the individual from GR1.
4.5. Simfinity may use available technical information, including game/server identifiers and GUID information, together with other information available to it, to identify and track individual participants and competition results. - Round 1 – Sim Racing Time Trial
5.1. Round 1 is a single-car, single-track/configuration time-trial competition.
5.2. The competition car, circuit, configuration and relevant server settings will be determined by Simfinity and published to entrants.
5.3. The competition configuration is intended to provide the same fundamental driving conditions to every entrant.
5.4. Where settings are locked by the Competition server, entrants must not attempt to alter, bypass or circumvent those settings.
5.5. The fastest valid lap submitted by each entrant will be considered for qualification.
5.6. At the conclusion of Round 1, the ten fastest eligible drivers will progress to Round 2.
5.7. KissMyRank (“KMR”), Simfinity Race Control and other technical monitoring systems may be used to assess laps and race conduct.
5.8. Simfinity reserves the right to manually review results where necessary. - Valid and Invalid Laps
6.1. A lap will only be eligible for consideration where it is valid under the Competition’s technical and sporting rules.
6.2. A lap may be rejected where it contains or is affected by:
• a KMR-detected collision;
• a KMR-detected track-boundary violation;
• an Assetto Corsa-invalidated lap;
• an infringement of the Competition’s driving or technical rules;
• manipulation or attempted manipulation of Competition systems;
• other conduct which, in Simfinity’s reasonable opinion, compromises the integrity of the result.
6.3. Track limits will be monitored. Entrants are expected to remain within the permitted track boundaries rather than deliberately exploiting areas outside the circuit.
6.4. Deliberate corner cutting, exploiting track geometry, exploiting game physics or exploiting technical weaknesses in the Competition setup is prohibited.
6.5. The use of a lap time which is technically recorded but obtained through prohibited conduct does not make that lap eligible.
6.6. A lap invalidated by the Competition systems will not count towards qualification.
6.7. Simfinity reserves the right to remove a result after it has initially appeared on the leaderboard if subsequent review identifies an infringement.
6.8. KissMyRank points, ratings, rankings, currency or other KMR scoring systems have no effect on GR1 qualification or the outcome of the Competition (We just can’t disable it without restarting!). - Round 2 – Sim Racing Race
7.1. The ten drivers who qualify from Round 1 will be invited to compete in Round 2.
7.2. Round 2 will consist of an online race involving the qualifying drivers.
7.3. The exact race format, number of heats, race length, start procedure and other details will be announced by Simfinity once confirmed.
7.4. The Round 2 result will be determined primarily by finishing position, subject to any applicable penalties, invalidations or sporting decisions.
7.5. KMR and Simfinity Race Control will have final authority over the validity of the race result for the purposes of GR1.
7.6. Three drivers will qualify for the Final Round.
7.7. Simfinity may modify the Round 2 format where necessary because of entrant numbers, server capacity, technical problems or other circumstances. - Final Round – Real-World Driver Assessment
8.1. Three drivers will qualify for the Final Round.
8.2. The Final Round will take place in person in the United Kingdom.
8.3. The finalists will participate in a real-world track-based driving assessment in an appropriate vehicle.
8.4. The finalists will receive instruction from an appropriately qualified or experienced instructor/driver.
8.5. The purpose of the Final Round is not simply to determine the fastest single lap. It is intended to assess the driver’s overall ability and potential.
8.6. Assessment may include, where appropriate:

8.7. The final winner will be selected following the assessment and driver analysis.
8.8. The decision of the appointed assessor(s) and/or Simfinity’s designated competition representatives regarding the Final Round result will be final.
8.9. No appeal or alternative scoring system will be available against the Final Round driver assessment. - The GR1 Prize
9.1. The overall winner will receive the opportunity to participate in one selected GAZ Shocks 116 Trophy race weekend during the 2027 season, subject to satisfying all applicable eligibility, licensing, medical, championship and event requirements.
9.2. A race car will be provided for the prize participation.
9.3. Simfinity will confirm the precise prize package, inclusions and arrangements with the winner once the relevant 2027 race programme and supporting arrangements have been finalised.
9.4. The prize is intended to include the relevant motorsport preparation, tuition, testing and licensing pathway required for the winner to attempt to participate in the race weekend, subject to the final arrangements and eligibility requirements.
9.5. Travel to and from the United Kingdom, and travel between the winner’s home and UK venues, is not included in the prize.
9.6. Any other expenses not expressly confirmed as part of the prize package will be communicated to the winner in advance.
9.7. The prize has no cash alternative.
9.8. The prize is personal to the winner and may not be sold, transferred, assigned or exchanged. - Availability and Commitment
10.1. Entering GR1 means accepting that the eventual winner must be able to commit significant time to the real-world prize.
10.2. The winner should expect to be required to attend activities including, but not necessarily limited to:
• driver tuition;
• testing;
• licensing preparation;
• licensing assessments;
• medical or eligibility procedures;
• race preparation;
• briefing;
• the race weekend itself.
10.3. The Organiser expects to provide approximately one month’s notice wherever reasonably possible, but circumstances may occasionally require shorter notice.
10.4. Dates and venues will be determined by the practical requirements of the prize, available circuits, instructors, championship schedule, licensing requirements and other relevant factors.
10.5. Activities may take place on weekdays as well as weekends.
10.6. The winner is responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel to UK venues unless Simfinity expressly confirms otherwise.
10.7. The winner should therefore only enter GR1 if they are realistically able to travel to and participate in the required UK activities.
10.8. Simfinity will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the winner’s circumstances and provide appropriate notice wherever possible.
10.9. If the winner becomes unavailable or unable to participate, Simfinity will determine the appropriate course of action having regard to the circumstances. Where necessary, the prize may be offered to the next eligible driver in the Competition standings. - 116 Trophy Eligibility
11.1. The real-world prize is subject to the winner satisfying all requirements applicable to participation in the GAZ Shocks 116 Trophy for the relevant 2027 event.
11.2. These requirements may include age, medical fitness, competition licensing, club membership, championship registration and any other requirements imposed by the relevant governing body, club, championship or event organiser.
11.3. The winner must satisfy all applicable requirements before participating in the relevant race.
11.4. Simfinity does not control the licensing, medical or sporting eligibility decisions of Motorsport UK, BRSCC, 116 Racing, the relevant club, championship or event officials.
11.5. The applicable requirements may change before the 2027 season. The requirements in force at the relevant time will apply.
11.6. Current information regarding the 116 Racing/BRSCC relationship and 2027 programme should be obtained directly from the relevant organisations. The 116 Trophy Series is scheduled to join the BRSCC portfolio from the 2027 season. BRSCC – 116 Trophy Series announcement
11.7. Entrants should also consult the current BRSCC and 116 Racing/GAZ Shocks 116 Trophy regulations and requirements before accepting the prize.
11.8. The safety requirements for real-world motorsport are governed by the relevant motorsport authorities, clubs, championships and event organisers. Those requirements take precedence over these GR1 Terms and Conditions. - Age and Medical Requirements
12.1. GR1 itself is open to entrants aged 16 or over.
12.2. Participation in the real-world prize is subject to the minimum age and any other age-related requirements applicable to the relevant 116 Trophy event and governing-body regulations.
12.3. The winner must satisfy all applicable medical requirements and obtain any medical certification required for the relevant licence or event.
12.4. If the winner cannot satisfy an applicable age or medical requirement, they will not be permitted to participate in the real-world prize.
12.5. In such circumstances, the prize may pass to the next highest-placed eligible driver. - Disabilities and Reasonable Adjustments
13.1. Simfinity wants GR1 to be accessible to as many people as reasonably possible.
13.2. Simfinity will make reasonable efforts to accommodate disabilities and individual requirements where practicable.
13.3. However, the available equipment, vehicle, circuit, safety requirements and other practical limitations may restrict the adjustments that can be made.
13.4. Where a requested adaptation relates to the real-world prize, its feasibility may need to be assessed by the relevant vehicle provider, instructor, circuit, championship, governing body or other competent authority.
13.5. Simfinity cannot guarantee that a particular adaptation will be possible.
13.6. Anyone with questions or concerns regarding accessibility or adaptations is encouraged to contact Simfinity before or during participation. - Fair Play and Anti-Cheating
14.1. GR1 is intended to identify genuine driving ability. Any attempt to gain an unfair advantage is prohibited.
14.2. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
• modified game files;
• modified vehicle physics;
• modified tyre behaviour;
• modified vehicle performance;
• unauthorised setup manipulation;
• external cheating software;
• scripts or macros intended to provide an unfair advantage;
• exploiting bugs or glitches;
• exploiting server vulnerabilities;
• exploiting KMR or other Competition systems;
• deliberately manipulating Competition data;
• manipulating leaderboard data;
• manipulating JSON, KMR, sTracker or related files;
• attempting to access restricted server or administrator files;
• interfering with or attacking the Competition server;
• deliberately causing collisions;
• deliberately attempting to invalidate another competitor’s lap;
• account sharing;
• impersonation;
• submitting another person’s lap;
• submitting false information;
• any other conduct designed to undermine the fairness or integrity of GR1.
14.3. An entrant does not need to successfully obtain an advantage for conduct to constitute a breach. An attempt to cheat, manipulate or interfere with the Competition may itself constitute grounds for disqualification.
14.4. Simfinity may investigate suspected cheating using available technical information, server records, logs, KMR data, sTracker data, race-control information and other relevant evidence.
14.5. Simfinity may disqualify an entrant where it reasonably believes that the entrant has attempted to gain an unfair advantage or has compromised the integrity of the Competition. - Driving Standards
15.1. Entrants are expected to drive in a manner consistent with the spirit of GR1.
15.2. Deliberate corner cutting, exploiting track limits, deliberately causing incidents or deliberately interfering with another competitor may result in disciplinary action.
15.3. Accidental mistakes and ordinary racing incidents will not automatically constitute misconduct.
15.4. Simfinity and its Race Control systems will distinguish, where reasonably possible, between genuine mistakes and deliberate or repeated misconduct. - Names, Language and Conduct
16.1. Real names are preferred.
16.2. Entrants must not use names, usernames, team names or other identifiers containing:
• excessive profanity;
• sexual or explicit content;
• hate speech;
• discriminatory language;
• threats;
• harassment;
• abusive material;
• extremist material;
• impersonation of another person or organisation;
• deliberately offensive material;
• material intended to disrupt or undermine the Competition.
16.3. Simfinity may require an entrant to change an unsuitable name or identifier.
16.4. If an entrant refuses to comply, Simfinity may remove them from the Competition.
16.5. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory or seriously inappropriate behaviour towards other competitors, Simfinity personnel, moderators, partners or members of the public may result in immediate disqualification.
16.6. For ordinary breaches, Simfinity will generally operate a warning system.
16.7. Repeated offences may result in disqualification.
16.8. Serious misconduct may result in immediate disqualification without prior warning. - Leaderboards and Results
17.1. Competition results are generated using the systems employed by Simfinity for GR1.
17.2. Technical identifiers, including GUIDs (Steam IDs), may be used internally to identify, track and verify participants and their results.
17.3. The public presentation of results may differ from the technical data used internally by the Competition systems.
17.4. Simfinity reserves the right to correct leaderboard errors, remove invalid results and update rankings following technical or sporting review.
17.5. A result appearing on a leaderboard does not necessarily constitute final confirmation that the result is valid.
17.6. Simfinity’s final published results following the relevant review process will determine qualification. - Technical Problems and Server Issues
18.1. GR1 relies on third-party software, game servers, internet connections, hosting, monitoring systems and other technology.
18.2. Simfinity cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Competition.
18.3. If technical problems occur, Simfinity may, where reasonably necessary:
• pause a Competition session;
• restart a session;
• extend a Competition period;
• repeat a race;
• modify a schedule;
• alter a format;
• invalidate affected results;
• provide additional attempts;
• postpone a round;
• take another reasonable measure necessary to protect the integrity of the Competition.
18.4. Simfinity will seek to treat competitors fairly when technical problems occur.
18.5. Where a technical issue affects the reliability of a result, Simfinity’s decision regarding whether that result should stand will be final. - Changes to the Competition
19.1. Simfinity reserves the right to make reasonable changes to GR1 where necessary.
19.2. This may include changes to dates, times, formats, circuits, server arrangements, technical systems, qualification procedures or other operational details.
19.3. Simfinity will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes to participants.
19.4. No change will be made for the purpose of unfairly favouring a particular entrant. - Cancellation and Circumstances Outside Simfinity’s Control
20.1. Simfinity reserves the right to postpone, amend, suspend or cancel GR1, or any part of it, where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary.
20.2. Such circumstances may include technical failures, server problems, software changes, circuit availability, motorsport schedule changes, weather, cancellation of events, vehicle availability, instructor availability, changes to championship arrangements or other circumstances affecting the delivery of the prize.
20.3. If the real-world prize cannot be delivered in its originally intended form, Simfinity will use reasonable efforts to provide an alternative arrangement where practicable.
20.4. The precise arrangements for any such alternative will be determined by Simfinity having regard to the circumstances. - Prize Winner Requirements
21.1. Before the winner can participate in the real-world prize, Simfinity may require confirmation that the winner can:
• attend the required UK activities;
• satisfy the applicable age requirements;
• satisfy applicable medical requirements;
• obtain the necessary competition licence;
• complete required licensing assessments;
• comply with the relevant championship requirements;
• attend required tuition and testing;
• comply with reasonable instructions;
• participate safely;
• provide any information reasonably required to arrange the prize.
21.2. If the winner fails to meet any mandatory requirement, the winner may be deemed ineligible.
21.3. Where the winner becomes ineligible, the prize may pass to the next highest-placed eligible driver.
21.4. This process may continue through the Competition standings until an eligible recipient is identified. - Publicity
22.1. By participating in GR1, entrants acknowledge that GR1 is a public competition and that competition results may be communicated publicly.
22.2. Simfinity may publish competition-related content including, where appropriate:
• entrant names or competition identifiers;
• leaderboard positions;
• lap times;
• race results;
• photographs;
• video;
• interviews;
• competition footage;
• winner announcements;
• real-world prize content.
22.3. The winner agrees to reasonably cooperate with Simfinity’s promotional activity relating to GR1 and the prize.
22.4. This may include reasonable photography, video, interviews, social-media content and appearances connected with the Competition and prize.
22.5. Simfinity will not require the winner to participate in unreasonable promotional activity. - Data
23.1. GR1’s Competition systems will collect and process technical competition information necessary to operate the Competition.
23.2. This may include a participant’s:
• GUID;
• lap times;
• session data;
• race results;
• Competition position;
• technical/server records;
• information relating to suspected rule breaches.
23.3. Simfinity’s primary Competition interest is the information required to identify entrants, verify participation, operate the Competition and establish results.
23.4. Personal data will be handled in accordance with Simfinity’s applicable Privacy Policy and data protection obligations.
23.5. Simfinity’s existing Privacy Policy applies to the Competition and should be read alongside these Terms and Conditions. - Liability
24.1. GR1 is provided as a free competition.
24.2. Simfinity will take reasonable steps to operate GR1 fairly and to maintain the integrity of its Competition systems.
24.3. However, Simfinity cannot guarantee that the Competition will always be available, uninterrupted or completely free from technical errors.
24.4. Simfinity is not responsible for failures of third-party software, internet services, hosting providers, game servers, hardware, external platforms or other systems outside its reasonable control.
24.5. Participation in real-world motorsport involves inherent risks. The winner’s participation in the real-world prize will be subject to the safety procedures, rules, waivers, insurance arrangements and requirements of the relevant circuit, vehicle provider, championship, club, governing body and other responsible organisations.
24.6. Participation in the real-world prize may require the winner to complete separate documentation, declarations, waivers, licence applications or other formal requirements imposed by those organisations.
24.7. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law. - No Guarantee of Motorsport Career
25.1. GR1 is intended to provide an opportunity for an entrant to demonstrate their ability.
25.2. Winning GR1 does not guarantee a professional motorsport career, future employment, sponsorship, championship success or any further racing opportunity beyond the prize expressly described in these Terms and Conditions.
25.3. The purpose of GR1 is to provide a genuine opportunity for an emerging driver to demonstrate what they can do. - Disqualification
26.1. Simfinity may disqualify an entrant where the entrant:
• breaches these Terms and Conditions;
• cheats or attempts to cheat;
• manipulates Competition systems;
• submits fraudulent information;
• uses multiple accounts;
• impersonates another person;
• repeatedly breaches driving standards;
• engages in abusive or seriously inappropriate conduct;
• interferes with the Competition;
• attempts to gain an unfair advantage;
• otherwise acts in a manner which materially compromises the integrity of GR1.
26.2. Where appropriate, Simfinity may issue a warning before disqualification.
26.3. Serious breaches may result in immediate disqualification.
26.4. A disqualified entrant may lose any leaderboard position, qualification place or prize entitlement. - Decisions of Simfinity
27.1. Simfinity will administer GR1 and will make the final Competition decisions necessary to operate it.
27.2. This includes decisions concerning:
• lap validity;
• technical infringements;
• leaderboard corrections;
• qualification;
• race results;
• conduct;
• cheating;
• disqualification;
• technical failures;
• Competition scheduling;
• prize eligibility.
27.3. KMR and Simfinity Race Control will provide important technical and sporting evidence, particularly during the online rounds.
27.4. Simfinity reserves the right to review technical evidence and make a final Competition determination where necessary.
27.5. The Final Round driver assessment decision is final. - Free Entry and No Purchase
28.1. GR1 is completely free to enter.
28.2. No purchase of Simfinity products or services is required to enter or progress through the Competition (Assetto Corsa required – no DLC).
28.3. Purchasing a Simfinity product, service or membership does not provide an advantage in GR1 unless expressly stated in separate published Competition rules. - Spirit of GR1
29.1. GR1 exists to find talent that may otherwise never get the opportunity to demonstrate itself.
29.2. Entrants are expected to compete in the spirit of the Competition: fairly, honestly, respectfully and with the aim of demonstrating genuine driving ability.
29.3. The Competition is intended to be grassroots and accessible, while providing a genuine pathway towards real-world motorsport.
29.4. Simfinity reserves the right to interpret these Terms in accordance with that purpose, provided that such interpretation is applied fairly and reasonably. - Governing Law
30.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
30.2. Any dispute relating to GR1 will be subject to any mandatory rights or protections available to an individual under applicable law. - Contact

IMPORTANT FINAL NOTE
GR1 is a free competition, but the prize is real.
The winner must be prepared to travel to the United Kingdom at their own expense, attend required tuition, testing and licensing activities, satisfy the relevant age and medical requirements, obtain the necessary competition licence and meet the requirements of the relevant 2027 116 Trophy event.
The exact 2027 championship, licensing and event requirements are determined by the relevant motorsport organisations and may change before the prize is taken. GR1 does not replace or override those requirements.
